LIRR Cannonball gorgeous evening ride Penn Station to Montauk. 6/28/24
We leave from Penn Station with roaring diesels right out of the gate. The lead unit wasn’t able to operate in electric mode. We make a nonstop run to Westhampton. And continue to the eastern hamlet of Montauk. Trip is narrated with infographics identifying all stations, interlockings, some passing trains, and all of the seemingly infinite number of railroad crossings. Although I didn’t know it at the time, we were blessed with the Sauerkraut Engineer for this run. Lots of fans were trackside to witness this popular train. We conclude video with scenes of Montauk and the pristine blue ocean on this gorgeous day with Kodachrome skies. Enjoy the ride to the scenic Montauk Branch East End!!!!

Great captures on the rails in the first half of 2024. All kinds of trains and railroads seen.

We see a huge variety of trains throughout the first half of 2024. You will see electrics and diesels on many railroads and get some neat horn shows from my beloved K5LLA’s as well as the Virginia Railway Express musical C5A-CWP horns. The quaint WABCO AA2 horns are heard also. You see everything from the Auto Train, older EMD diesels, to CSX hotshot freight trains.

We spent a gorgeous sunny day in New London, Connecticut. The waterside area is a wonderful place to catch trains and boats coming and going constantly. This is also a rare place on the Northeast Corridor where there are railroad crossings and the trains blasting their horns for them. We see numerous Amtrak trains along with a few Shore Line East M8 mu trains. You will hear raised letter K5LA h...

Spaghetti himself gave me a migraine with his rendition of that raucous horn. Next the Cannon Ball stormed by. Lastly we see #45 from Speonk to Jamaica with more pleasing cab car notes that I wished f...
